No Sew drapes made from tablecloths are a quick and easy way to customize your home with fun fabrics.
Remember back to this post where I mentioned using tablecloths for draperies??? Well, when I read on The Nester’s Blog that she is putting together an e Book called Mistreatment Drapes and is going to include some fellow mistreatment entries ….I thought to myself …hey, why don’t I send her a picture of these little ‘ol tablecloth draperies I’m going to use this spring…so I snapped a little preview of my window and sent it her way.. :) I know she’ll get hundreds of entries so the odds of her picking mine will be slim, but I thought I would try anyway. It’s so hard to get a good picture in my front room. There is very little natural lighting…especially in the north this time of year:)
Here is the table cloth I purchased on clearance a few months ago at either Meijer’s or Walmart can’t remember which one.
…notice how the edges are already sewn so nicely…no need for fancy stitching to make these work for draperies:)…
Just take them out of the package …. iron …clip on your rod loops and you are done!!
The beauty of using an oblong table cloth is that they come in great standard sizes that fit most windows!
The tablecloth in the picture above is a 60×82…The perfect length for my window!
Oh, and you can sandwich a white tablecloth on the backside for a lining. My white one is longer, so I just folded it over before I clipped them together. Bonus, You can always just use the white one by itself for a drape panel , that is the beauty since they aren’t sewn together
Here are the sizes of most standard tablecloths, not including round and oval.
- Square: 52 x 52 inches
- Oblong: 60 x 84 inches, 60 x 104, 60 x 120, 60 x 144
So don’t forget to be on the look out in the clearance section while your bargain hunting. Recently, I saw several in the clearance section at Bed Bath & Beyond marked way down.
PS…Nester if you ever read this, I just wanted to say how much I LOVE your brown striped drapes…I LOVE them sooo much I bought 10 yards of the fabric back when you shared where to purchase it. I’m not saying that for brownie points I’m just fessing up that I still haven’t made drapes with it yet…. and it is still in the wrapper!! Bad me!! I need that book to show me how you made them….
